Good morning, Gallaudet community! Today is Monday, August 31, 2020 — the first day of the 2020-2021 academic year.

Welcome back to our students all over the United States and the world! You are among the 1,300 students who are determined to continue your education virtually!  It is surreal to be on a largely empty campus, but we are committed to delivering the same quality education as always.

Let us start this school year by remembering that Gallaudet remains the place where Deaf, hard of hearing, and DeafBlind people come together in the world of higher education — we are innovators and changemakers and what we do here makes an impact on the world. This is one of the most innovative communities of people. You continue to amaze me. This innovation will find ways for all of us to continue the bilingual experience that Gallaudet offers us — although remotely!

I look forward to formally welcoming you back on Wednesday, September 16 at 1 p.m. Eastern Time.
