Students of Color Leadership Institute
February 20 @ 9:00 am - 7:00 pm EST
The Students of Color Leadership Institute 2021 (SOCLI) is coming up SOON, February 19-20! The theme is "Your Power is Real: Unite Today Toward a Brighter Future."
With the SOCLI, we aim to train, nurture, and inspire our young leaders of the future through the power of our experienced leaders of color using their knowledge, experience, and deep consideration for diversity and inclusion on and off-campus. The benefits of leadership acting exercised by people of color bring several unique advantages: more visibility to people of color in positions of authority will annihilate the harmful stereotypes, replenish confidence, and determination to pave a path forward for their communities. The SOCLI will help build your power to shape the future, and we hope you will help us mold Gallaudet and our wider communities of color through your participation.
On Friday, February 19, the event will kick off at 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., Eastern Standard Time.
Zoom ID: 84207661323.
On Saturday, February 20, there will be a full day of events, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Eastern Standard Time. A schedule will be supplied soon. Zoom ID: 82133664080.
This Institute is open to all students of color.
SOCLI is hosted by the Office of Multicultural Student Development and Mentoring, a unit in the Division of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion. For more information, contact Thuan Nguyen-Lakrik, Manager, Student Development and Mentoring. For accommodations, contact Kala Granger.
