Bison Athletics Speaker Series in memory of Robert Stanley Lawson

The Gallaudet University Athletics Department will host its next Bison Athletics Speaker Series in memory of Robert Stanley Lawson on Wednesday, Feb. 3, at noon (Eastern Time). The featured speaker is Gallaudet Athletics Hall of Famer Dr. Donalda Ammons ’74, as she will discuss the History of Deaf Sports.
The Bison Athletic Speaker Series in memory of Robert Stanley Lawson, also known as the GUBison Mowl Family Speaker Series, is open to all Gallaudet student-athletes and students. Dr. Ammons was inducted into the Gallaudet Athletics Hall of Fame in 1998 for her competition in all women’s sports. Ammons is a Professor Emerita at Gallaudet University after she taught for 31 years before she retired in 2008. Dr. Ammons has been a leader within USA Deaf Sports Federation (USADSF) and internationally for more than 30 years. Dr. Ammons became the seventh president of International Committee of Sports for the Deaf (ICSD) in 2003 and served in that role until 2009. She was the first female to be elected President of ICSD.

The Bison Athletics Speaker Series is in memory of Robert Stanley Lawson and in honor of the Mowl Family, including: Amelia Mowl and Stephanie Stevens, Anthony Mowl and Fallon Brizendine, Jon Ethan Mowl and Lauren Benedict, Harold and Mary Arrington Mowl, Rita Mowl and Robin Shay and Gary Eugene Mowl (posthumously).
