The Gallaudet University COVID-19 Call Center will close on Friday, May 15 at 4 p.m.

This center was established in March, shortly after the university and Clerc Center sent students home and went to remote operation. It was open 24 hours per day, seven days per week, and provided confidential information and referral via videophone, text, and voice.

According to Ted Baran, director of Public Safety and Transportation, the Call Center is being closed due to low call volume and impending construction on the MSSD residence hall. Baran said, “I want to thank you all, and especially thank the frontline hotline workers for their willingness to come to campus and be a part of our COVID-19 response team. I believe that the Call Center was very helpful for our community.”

The university’s dedicated website,, and email address,, are still up and running. The Department of Public Safety can be reached in emergencies at, or via telephone or text at 202-651-5555.
