Gallaudet University is monitoring the novel coronavirus, also known as COVID-19, very closely because the health and well-being of our students, faculty, staff, and community members are of primary importance.

I realize the decision to move to remote learning impacts the graduating class in a unique way. The last semester provides time to celebrate an amazing set of accomplishments. Gallaudet is committed to helping each one of you to complete the requirements in order to graduate.

We realize that Commencement and associated events will be impacted by the University’s review of large-scale events on campus. The situation is very fluid and rapidly changing and it is difficult for us to foresee what the situation will be like in April or May.

We will be reaching out to the Class of 2020 officers and the Graduate Student Association to schedule an online meeting to invite discussion and brainstorming on how to best recognize your achievements and celebrate your graduation, even if we cannot be all together on Kendall Green.

I appreciate your patience and support as the University navigates this “new normal” for our community. It is my hope that we will be able to communicate the plan within the next two weeks! #GallaudetSTRONG

All the best,
