Greetings to all of our Gallaudet students!

We hope you are doing well and attending to your mental health needs and engaging in self-care.

We wanted to update you on current CAPS services and our plans for the near future.

Currently, setting up different groups that would provide additional support, along with vlogs on mental health. Please keep an eye out for more information.  Check our Facebook and IG page.

We had hoped to be able to provide ongoing counseling services to Gallaudet students, but we faced some challenges with legal issues related to state licensing restrictions.

So at this time, we are providing emergency and crisis intervention services to all Gallaudet students through Zoom.  We will soon be using Zoom HIPPA, which is a little more secure.

Emergency services are for students who are in need of immediate support due to feeling stressed, overwhelmed, suicidal thoughts, or self-harm. CAPS is available for you.

To access the emergency/crisis services, you can call CAPS during business hours at 202-250-2300 (VP) or 202-651-6080 (voice) and a CAPS counselor will send you a Zoom link.

If you have an emergency after business hours, please call or text DPS at 202-651-5555 or

Other resources:  Crisis text line. Volunteers are trained to work with Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals.  Text 741741 and type DHOH.

Peer Advisors (PAs) with the Office of Residence Life and Housing are also available to meet with you remotely. There is a PA working every day of the week at different times to fit your schedule.

Please see CAPS and PA flyers at the end of the video.  Please continue to take care of yourselves.
